My name is Kari, and I am from a little town in Texas where eating good food is the national past-time. I have been cooking for as long as I can remember, and I am so excited to share some of my favorite things with you.
My partner in this is my husband Greg. He is my self-appointed recipe taste tester, and also runs all the behind the scenes tech stuff. Can you believe we only knew each other for two weeks before we got married…that was 23 years ago! I kind of like him : )
In 2014, after a 21 year career in the U.S. Navy, we sold everything and moved overseas to see if we could start a business that would help people in need. Within a year, millions of refugees found their way to the country where we lived. I wanted to find a way to connect with refugee women, and so one day I asked one of my friends if she would teach me to cook her favorite foods. That’s when My Ethnic Table was born!
It is my passion to bring delicious, authentic and accessible ethnic recipes to dinner tables around the world! Along the way I hope to raise refugee awareness, and, help the amazing people I cook with increase their sense of self-worth and remind them of God’s love.
Outside of the kitchen I love hanging out with my family, traveling, painting, drinking good coffee and following Jesus. I adore my three mostly-grown-up daughters, and love playing with my two dogs…Mr.Bingley and Mr.Darcy. Did I also mention that I am a huge Jane Austen fan!
We are currently living in Spain, where good food and opportunities to serve refugees are abundant. I say currently because we tend to move a lot. We are in our 25th house and 4th foreign country! We never know where our heart… or bellies… will take us next!
